John Gable’s Tower | Roanoke, VA
This tower, hand-built by John Gable, was initially built for his wife and various parties they would throw amongst their friends. He carried the stones for this structure, one by one, from a creek near his home. After 12 years of persistent labor and ambition to finish this great project, John finished the tower in 2005. He encourages and welcomes people to come to his tower to climb it, peer out over the Blue Ridge Mountains, and also visit with him over a cup of coffee. From my brief encounter with him, I have seen that he is a truly genuine man who has a really loving heart and also a great deal of passion. Not often does one meet an individual who possesses true joy. I saw that trait in this man, and I am thankful to have had the chance to meet him.
